Bought in the App Store on an iPhone or iPad. Tap Shop at the
top of the editor, then Restore purchases. As on a Mac, Apple holds that
purchase and the app asks Apple for it. If Restore purchases finds nothing, look for the
purchase in Apple's purchase history, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Bought from mirroredgeai.com. Open Help ▸ Unlock Studio…, or
simply press the paid button you wanted in the first place — the same window opens either
way, and if you unlock right there the export you asked for carries straight on without you
re-clicking anything. Type the email address on your payment receipt into the
Activate box and press Activate, adding your order number (it starts with cs_)
if it asks for one. The app sends those and your computer's name to
mirroredgeai.com, gets back a signed licence and writes it to
~/.waves/license.json; after that it goes online for the licence only to
re-check a subscription near or after its renewal date. From a terminal, waves activate
you@example.com --order cs_… does the same thing; a purchase made on this website
needs its order number there too.
If you installed from the Microsoft Store, the Store gave you the application, not the subscription — your licence is the mirroredgeai.com one, so use the Activate box as above.
The app shows you the licence service's own words. These are the three you are most likely to see.
“No license was found for that email.” Almost always a different address from the one you paid with — an alias, a work mailbox, a second account. Use the address exactly as printed on your receipt. If you paid a moment ago, give it a minute and press Activate again.
“That subscription isn't active any more.” The subscription has lapsed or was cancelled. If you renewed in the last few minutes, give it a moment and press Activate again; otherwise restart it at mirroredgeai.com/studio. Your licence wakes back up on the same email address, with nothing to reinstall.
“This license is active on quite a few computers already.” Licences carry a machine limit so one purchase is not shared endlessly. If you have changed computers, or reinstalled a few times, write to us and we will clear the old machines off your licence.
Opening, editing and listening are free, permanently. Free use has no time limit and nothing is watermarked. On a computer (Windows or Mac), opening files, drawing boxes, every repair and editing tool, playing back, previewing a repair before you commit to it, undo and redo, playing the four Digital Instruments, and saving a session and reopening it later — all free, for as long as you like, whether you ever pay or not. On a computer, sessions do not support recordings opened from a video, from a link, or from an M4A, AAC or WMA file; keep your work on one of those by exporting it.
On an iPhone or iPad, opening files, drawing boxes, every repair and editing tool, playing back, previewing a repair, undo and redo, and opening a project folder are free in the same way, and the app keeps the project you are working on and reopens it when you come back. What needs a pass or a plan there is playing the four Digital Instruments, Save project to Files, and every export.
A pass or a plan covers keeping what you make: every place where the app would write a new file out of your work. On a computer there are nine of them — exporting audio; exporting a video with the cleaned sound; lifting a selection out as its own file; merging boxes into a new file; saving separated speaker tracks; bringing a file into the Music Studio; keeping a Music Studio mixdown; exporting a Music Studio arrangement; and keeping a Tracedeck take. On a computer, your first export is free, once; the iPhone and iPad app has no free export. That is the whole rule on a computer, and it is easier to remember than the list: free to use, paid to keep.

the price is
$12.99 a month or $99 a year for everything, or a one-time pass from $4.99,
in US dollars. The plans are Studio Complete ($12.99 a month) and
Studio Complete, yearly ($99 a year); the passes are Keep this recording
($4.99 for 48 hours) and Studio Week Pass ($8.49 for seven days), each
counted from purchase. Everything means SoundWave Studio, Music Studio with all four Digital
Instruments, and Photo Studio and Video Studio as each launches. Teams: Studio Team,
$49 a month for five people. Paid finishes are separate: $2.99 once per
finish, per instrument, and applying one needs an active Studio Complete subscription or a
Studio Team seat. On the App Store (Mac, iPhone or iPad) the plans are bought inside the app:
Apple bills in your own currency and applies your own tax, and the app shows you Apple's
exact price before you commit to anything, on the buttons of the Unlock Studio window on a Mac
and with each plan in the Studio shop on an iPhone or iPad. That price, not ours, is the
one you pay; in the United States and Canada, Apple adds the tax at checkout. A Founding
Lifetime licence is no longer sold, by Apple or by us; the ones already issued keep working
and never need renewing.
A subscription bought through the App Store, on a Mac, an iPhone or an iPad, belongs
to Apple end to end, so cancel it or ask for a refund through Apple, not through us: we
cannot see that transaction and have no way to touch it. To cancel on an iPhone or iPad,
open Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Subscriptions; on a Mac, open the
App Store ▸ [your name] ▸ Subscriptions (your name is at the bottom of the App
Store sidebar). Refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com.
A subscription bought from mirroredgeai.com, on this website or through the Windows app, is ours. To cancel it, update your card or download your invoices, open Manage billing and sign in with the email address you paid with; cancelling stops the next renewal, and the current period runs to its end. To change or pause a plan, to ask for a refund, or if you cannot sign in, email us from, or quoting, the receipt address, say what you want done, and it gets done.
If you stop paying, the app does not stop working. You lose the ability to write new files out of it and to apply paid finishes, and on a computer nothing else; on an iPhone or iPad, the four Digital Instruments lock again too. Sessions you saved still open, the files you already exported are yours, and picking the subscription up again later unlocks the same installation: on the same email address if you bought from mirroredgeai.com, or through the same Apple Account, not an email address, if you bought in the App Store on a Mac, an iPhone or an iPad.

SoundWave Studio draws the file you open as a spectrogram — time running across, frequency running up — and lets you draw a box around a region of both at once. So you can put a box over the hum sitting underneath a voice, between 4 and 9 seconds and 50 and 120 Hz, and heal only what is inside it. The voice above the box is untouched, because it was never inside the box.
The app opens files. It does not capture sound. There is no microphone path in the application at all — no input stream, no capture button, and no preference that reveals one. If you need to capture audio, capture it in whatever application does that for you, save the file, and open that file in the app.
The app processes your audio and video on your own machine and never uploads what you work on. No account is needed to use it; direct and Windows customers can sign in with an emailed code to keep a personal collection of finishes and a Studio Team membership. On a computer it goes online for your licence and purchases, for that sign-in, and for File ▸ Open from link; on an iPhone or iPad it goes online only to the App Store, for prices and purchases.
