Works with Claude

Tell an assistant what's wrong with your recording. It does the editing.

Waves can hand its controls to Claude. You describe the problem the way you'd describe it to a person — and Claude opens your file, measures it, works out which repairs to reach for, applies them, and tells you what changed. You stay in charge: everything it does is undoable, and nothing is saved unless you say so.

"There's a hum through this whole interview and someone's phone buzzes about four minutes in. Clean it up and tell me what you did."

That's a complete instruction. Claude will find the hum by measuring it, notch it out, locate the buzz on the spectrogram, draw a box around it, heal only that, and report the noise floor before and after.

Setting it up (once, about two minutes)

Waves is the plugin — there's nothing extra to download. The app you already have can serve Claude directly.

Install Claude Code if you don't have it.
In Waves, open Help ▸ Works with Claude… and press Copy this line. It's already filled in with the correct path for your computer.
Paste it into a terminal and press Enter. It looks like this:

Using Claude Desktop or another assistant that takes a settings file instead? The same dialog has Copy config (JSON).

What Claude can do

Open an audio file — or a video, whose sound it lifts out.
Look at the recording and say what's wrong, with measurements.
Repair with any of the twenty fixes: hiss, hum, clicks, echo, harshness, clipping, and more — on the whole thing or just one stretch.
Draw a box on the sound itself and heal one specific noise, leaving everything around it untouched.
Split a room into one track per voice.
Undo anything, and show you the full list of what it did.
Save the result, or a session file you can reopen in the app.

Your audio never leaves your computer

This matters, so it's worth being exact about it. Claude sends instructions to Waves — "take out the clicks", "quieten 3–6 kHz between 0:12 and 0:18" — and Waves does the work locally and sends back measurements. Your recording is never uploaded, never transmitted, never copied anywhere. The audio stays exactly where it was.

What it costs

Nothing extra. Driving Waves with Claude is part of the app, and the same rule applies as everywhere else: using Waves is free, and keeping what it makes — exported files, speaker tracks — is what a licence covers.
